Musical theater major to compete in semifinal round of NextGen National: Finding the Voices of Tomorrow

Christian Clausnitzer

Christian Clausnitzer, a junior musical theater major, is one of 30 semifinalists in the American Pops Orchestra NextGen Competition.

Judges will choose 10 finalists during a virtual event at 8 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 19). The finalists will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete in the finals slated for this spring.

Four judges are from the arts and entertainment fields and the audience will serve as the fifth judge. The community is encouraged to help Clausnitzer gain an experience of a lifetime by moving on to the next round.

Luke Frazier (WVU ‘07), the conductor and artistic director of APO, has taken this regional competition to national prominence, featuring semifinalists from some of the best music and musical theater schools in the country.

NextGen gives collegiate vocalists the opportunity to learn from industry professionals while competing for a chance to win scholarship money and paid performance opportunities with the American Pops Orchestra.
