Information Technology Services will make the Windows 11 operating system available to all ITS-supported computers that can accept the upgrade beginning today (Nov. 9).

You can continue to work while it installs in the background. To complete the installation, click the “restart now” prompt. The reboot can take up to 30 minutes, so click “Schedule the restart” to select a more convenient time.

If you have not completed this by Wednesday, Nov. 16, the upgrade will finish and restart your computer automatically.

This change affects all departments that are supported by ITS. Colleges and campuses with their own IT support teams will update eligible machines to Windows 11 on their own timelines. Contact your IT team if you have questions.

Please be aware this upgrade enables “Known Folder Redirection,” which redirects documents, desktop and pictures folders on your computer to your OneDrive account. Synching these files consumes bandwidth, so if you have a lot of content in these folders, you may want to upgrade at the end of your workday. If your access to this content breaks, follow these instructions

If you have a problem with the installation, contact the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444.
