Workshop on academic writing and composition skills

English for Academic and Professional Purposes

The English Language Learning Institute in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics will host a webinar from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 2) to discuss academic writing and general English composition skills for non-native and native English speakers looking to improve their writing.

Attendees will examine the role hidden bias in assignment structure or assessment may have on non-native speakers as academic writers. The webinar will also help participants master concepts around rhetorical style, citation and plagiarism, as well as the ability to paraphrase and synthesize with accuracy.

The lead speaker is Tracy Dingess, a teaching instructor in the English Language Learning Institute.
