Faculty, staff, students and the general public can get a WVU parking citation excused by donating to WVU Parking Management’s “Food for Fines” food drive, benefiting The Rack: WVU Student Food Pantry.
In exchange for a donation of 10 non-perishable food items — 12 ounces or more recommended — participants can get a maximum of one unpaid parking citation removed from their account, up to a $20 value.
Participants should drop off their items on the first floor of Mountaineer Station from Tuesday (Nov. 1) through Friday, Nov. 11. The collection site will be open weekdays from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Please note Mountaineer Station will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 8, for Election Day. The team will not be accepting donations on this date.
Parking citations that have already been paid cannot be refunded. However, donations are welcome from those who do not currently have any unpaid parking citations.
Suggested donations include canned meats, vegetables, fruit and beans as well as rice, pasta, snacks, condiments, spices and other pantry staples. The Rack is also in need of food items that are vegan or gluten-free. To view specific donation needs, visit The Rack’s Amazon wishlist.
Food items should not be expired.
