Expect to see plenty of flying pumpkin bits near the Engineering Sciences Building Friday (Oct. 28) as the annual Pumpkin Drop brings hundreds of elementary, middle and high school students to Morgantown.
The competition aims to teach engineering concepts to students by having them design enclosures with the ability to protect pumpkins from damage when dropped 11 stories.
This will be the 33rd Pumpkin Drop. Events are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Proceeds from the Pumpkin Drop, sponsored by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, benefit Ronald McDonald House Morgantown.
