WVU Badges, jointly administered by the Office of the Provost and the WVU Teaching and Learning Commons, offers opportunities for faculty, staff and students to enhance their academic and professional skill sets.
Participants can earn micro-credentials at their own pace to gain knowledge, experiences and unique skills in a particular subject area. After meeting the requirements, the digital WVU Badge can be displayed on social media, websites, resumes, job sites as well as in emails and other communications.
As digital badges become more mainstream in academia and the workplace, they are transforming how skills and competencies are recognized, verified and recorded. WVU Badges can help faculty, staff and students explore new areas of professional growth, enrich their learning experiences and add value to their digital footprint.
Faculty and staff might consider learning best practices to speak with students and their colleagues about mental health and wellbeing through the Emotional Wellness Badge. Others may be interested in HyFlex course delivery through multiple HyFlex Teaching Badges.
Faculty, staff and instructors are invited to pursue badges of their own while also encouraging students to earn badges.
Students can enhance their academic experiences while exploring more intentional ways to understand racial, cultural, ethnic or accessibility differences through the Cultural Competency Badges or the Disability Inclusion Identity Badge. Or they can put creative thinking and problem solving into action through the Entrepreneurial and Innovation Mindset Badge.
The Tobacco Treatment Specialist Badge is open to Health Sciences Campus students, as well as eligible health care professionals and secondary teachers. New badges will be announced as they become available.
In the coming months, watch for badge opportunities for professionals and individuals outside the University system and share them with colleagues, friends and family.
