WVU observes national and local hazing prevention weeks from now through end of September

Hazing Prevention

West Virginia University is marking National Hazing Prevention Week beginning today (Sept. 19) through Friday (Sept. 23) with local Hazing Prevention Week following next week.

A series of events will be provided both in person and virtually for the University community. All events are free.

Sponsored by the WVU Hazing Prevention Task Force, the purpose of this year's observance is to raise awareness about what constitutes hazing, and educate members of the University community on where to report hazing.

Kimberly and TJ Burch, parents of Nolan Burch, will be keynote speakers at the inaugural Prevention Summit on Friday, Sept. 30, in the Mountainlair. A screening of the Emmy-winning documentary, “Breathe, Nolan, Breathe,” a discussion and a question and answer period with the Burches will be open to all students, faculty and staff.
