Morrow leads development of social work accreditation standards

Deana Morrow

As chair of the Commission on Accreditation for the Council on Social Work Education, Deana Morrow, director and professor in the School of Social Work, has been leading a five-year effort to develop new national accreditation standards for social work education.

The Council on Social Work Education is the accrediting body for social work education throughout the United States and its territories.

In addition to overseeing the Commission, Morrow co-chaired a committee of national leaders in social work education that developed the new standards known as the 2022 CSWE Educational Policy and Standards.

The process was a five-year endeavor with multiple drafts for public review, public presentations and calls for stakeholder feedback. The new accreditation standards will govern the accreditation of more than 900 social work education programs.
