Students observing Ramadan through May 1

The Office of the Provost reminds faculty and instructors that a number of our students will be celebrating the Islamic month of Ramadan through May 1.  We encourage faculty and instructors to be as understanding and flexible as possible with their students during this observance, especially in accommodating requests for alternate examination times.

This observance includes practicing spiritual reflection, compassion, generosity as well as fasting from sunrise to sunset, which can vary from day-to-day. An important part of each day is the breaking of the fast (f'tour or iftar) at sunset.

The University Testing Center has limited capacity to provide proctoring for alternate exams. If you are interested in arranging a proctored alternate exam for a student observing Ramadan, email the Center at wvutestingcenter@mail.wvu.edu.
