West Virginia University will sponsor a free online Mental Health First Aid training April 27 and April 28. This two-part session is open to WVU-affiliated faculty, staff or students from any of the University’s campuses.
Mental Health First Aid is an international, evidence-based program that prepares participants to interact with a person experiencing a mental health crisis. Participants learn to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges with a 5-step action plan.
The sessions will be delivered online on April 27 from 9a.m.-12:30 p.m., and April 28 from 1-4:30 p.m. Attendance in both sections is required. Prior to the instructor-led sessions, participants will receive instructions for completing two hours of pre-work.
There are a limited number of seats available. Registration will close when all seats are filled.
Once successfully registered, an email notification from mentalhealthfirstaid@mail.wvu.edu will include course instructions.
Watch MOUNTAINEER E-News for additional training opportunities in May and June.
