WVU Sustainability Committee seeks input from faculty and staff

In support of WVU’s efforts to promote a more sustainable future for our campus community, the WVU Sustainability Committee is seeking feedback from faculty and staff based in Morgantown through a brief survey:

Take the survey.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Responses will be used to further assess teaching, service and research in the areas of sustainability at the University.

In recognition of its sustainability achievements, WVU was awarded a Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System Silver rating last year from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

Certain credits in the “academics” portion of the STARS assessment focus on the number of sustainability-related courses taught at a college or university compared to their overall course offerings.

However, because course descriptions at WVU do not always reflect sustainability content, our achievements in this area potentially were underrepresented in our overall STARS rating.

The Sustainability Committee Survey is designed to help WVU better understand the sustainability aspects of our course offerings and identify faculty and staff who are regularly engaged in sustainability efforts at the University. This information will be valuable as WVU prepares to gather information for its STARS assessment in 2024.

The WVU Sustainability Committee was formed as a subcommittee of the WVU Faculty Senate in fall 2019. The committee provides support and assistance to the Office of Sustainability — especially in regard to the University’s sustainability plans and goals. The committee also offers recommendations to WVU leadership based on these goals.
