Intended for early career faculty and graduate students, the Library’s Scholarly Communication workshops are designed to help you maximize your scholarly presence, find the right journal to publish in, and measure your scholarly impact.

Preparing for a Poster Session
Learn how to develop a poster presentation, including best practices for design and engagement. Researchers of all levels are welcome.

Creating and Managing Your Online Scholarly Presence
This workshop will cover a few different tools for creating and managing your online scholarly presence.

Research Tools and Software for Academic Writing
In this workshop participants will explore popular online tools that assist writers with various stages of academic writing.

Tips and Tricks for Successful Open Access Publishing
This workshop will demonstrate tips and tricks for publishing in open access journals. Topics covered includes; tools for finding appropriate journals, funding opportunities for WVU authors, and WVU open access memberships.

Measuring and Promoting the Impact of Your Research
This workshop will provide an overview of traditional and nontraditional scholarly metrics and will discuss tools to measure research impact.

Submitting your ETD to the Research Repository @ WVU
In this workshop, we will explain the ETD formatting requirements, walk you through the submission process and answer all of your questions to help make your submission stress-free.

Where Should I Publish? Using Library Resources for Manuscript Submission Decisions
Find the right journal to publish your article in using library resources such as the Web of Science Core Collection, InCites Journal Citation Reports, and EndNote Match. Bring your completed or partial journal manuscript title/abstract and keywords to search and analyze the literature. This workshop will require an EndNote Basic account registration.
