WVU faculty and staff not affected by recent UKG cyberattack

cybersecurity

On Tuesday (Dec. 14), West Virginia State Auditor John B. McCuskey issued a statement regarding a recent cybersecurity incident that impacted UKG (formerly known as Kronos).

UKG is contracted by the state to provide payroll administration — specifically time and leave balances.

West Virginia University faculty and staff are not impacted by the UKG cyberattack because the University does not process payroll with the state through wvOASIS system or Kronos application.

However, the incident serves as a reminder on the importance of remaining vigilant against cybercriminals. With more people shopping online and many businesses closed for the holidays, there typically is an increase in the number of cyberattacks this time of year.
