Rob Chafin, assistant professor of voice, and Eryk Bluto, a senior bfa musical theater major, have created a virtual Holiday Countdown Calendar. This interactive calendar features performances from doctoral-level to first-year students majoring in vocal performance, music education, music therapy, musical theater and theater.

At the end of every semester, students from Chafin’s voice studio class would visit nursing homes in the Morgantown community to sing their jury selections; however, due to COVID-19 restrictions, he and his students created this virtual experience.
“Like an Advent Calendar, you can open one box each day, but it isn’t like Netflix, where you can binge ahead,” Chafin said. “This countdown is a way for students to give back and perform safely.”
The calendar will be sent to nursing homes and senior assisted living centers throughout West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
“We hope that this Calendar can bring some light to the shorter days ahead as winter approaches,” he added.
