faith leaders

Join us in this discussion about LGBTQ+ identity and the holy texts in Jewish and Christian traditions: scriptures, interpretations, translation and yes, even queer representation, Thursday (Dec. 2) from 7-8 p.m.

This is the first of a three-part series on faith, which will address the intersection of religion and LGBTQ+ identity. Parts 2 and 3 will be held in 2022 and focus on Islam and Buddhism.

Panelists will talk about the way they affirm LGBTQ+ identity, life and faith through theology, scripture, and practice. Speakers:

  • Rev. Dr. Wes Bergen - Pastor at the Morgantown Church of the Brethen-Mennonite.

  • Rev. Samantha Coggins - WVU Campus Minister, Presbyterian Student Fellowship.

  • Rabbi Joe Hample - Spiritual leader at Tree of Life Congregation - Morgantown.

  • Rev. Zac Morton - Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Morgantown.

  • Rev. Jenny Williams - Pastor of Avery United Methodist Church in Morgantown.
