Pick up free reusable menstrual cups this week, help support sustainability, period care

The WVU Women’s Resource Center is launching the second annual Period Cup Campaign today (Nov. 8) to help make a sustainable impact on campus and raise awareness about period care.

Partnering with the same company this fall, now renamed All Matters, the WRC will distribute cups Nov. 8-11, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., in the Mountainlair.

Typically a $30 value, these reusable, medical grade, silicone menstrual cups replace pads and tampons. So, stop by and don’t forget to pick up a cup.

The average person uses 11,000 disposable period products in their lifetime and a medium-sized university (10,000 students) goes through as many as 2.9 million disposables each year. As a university of 26,000+ students and thousands more faculty and staff, switching to a reusable product offers a cleaner, healthier and greener option that women can use for years to come while having a minimal impact on the environment.

Through this four-day campaign, the WRC is excited to help the WVU community save money and save our planet, becoming a more sustainable, healthier WVU.

Help the WRC kick off the campaign tomorrow (Nov. 9) and  join a virtual discussion on environmental sustainability, how to use a period cup, how to determine cup size, the pros/cons of cups, menstrual hygiene and menstrual equity.

Register for the virtual discussion.
