The West Virginia University Collegiate Recovery Program is working to increase awareness of services and resources available to faculty and staff, family members, classmates and/or other individuals closest to someone in recovery.
The Program provides a safe, affirming environment for students in recovery so that they can successfully pursue academic, personal and professional goals; however, any individual affected by an addicted person can also receive support through the Collegiate Recovery Program. This includes all types of addictions, including substance use, eating disorders and other mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression.
“Addiction does not only affect the individual; its impact often extends to family members and friends,” said Olivia Pape, director of the WVU Collegiate Recovery Program. “As a result, my team and I have worked to expand our services to support faculty and staff, family members, classmates or anyone else who has been impacted by addiction.”
The Collegiate Recovery Program is located at Serenity Place, 628 Price Street. Serenity Place is a safe space where the campus community can relax, study and hang out with others in any type of recovery.
