Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Meshea L. Poore continues her weekly series of short videos, exploring topics centered on helping members of the WVU community live, learn and work together with care and respect for each other.
This week’s video, released Sept. 7, addresses respect.
“We respect each other when we listen to understand a different point of view or learn about someone else’s experiences,” Poore said. “Where we start seeing conversations break down is when the respect has been broken, when someone begins to make personal attacks. At that point we’re talking over one another, we’re not hearing each other, and we fail to care about the perspectives and experiences of others.”
The Let’s Talk series, with a new video each Tuesday, addresses a diversity of topics, including equity, xenophobia, and ableism.
