Research climate survey to close May 4

research building

Faculty and graduate students received a survey request reminder from Source at Ethics Core today (April 26).

The Survey of Organizational Research Climate (SOURCE) is an externally validated instrument that will assess WVU’s environment for responsible research practices, and will provide useful information in evaluating and enhancing WVU’s policies, processes and educational efforts.

The National Center for Professional & Research Ethics (NCPRE) is running this survey at the request of WVU, and will provide the University with the results of the survey as well as three "benchmark" institutions for reference. The Office of Research will be using these data to identify "bright spots", develop RCR programming, and guide additional efforts to strengthen our culture of research integrity.

Participation is voluntary, and responses will remain anonymous. The survey should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.

“This is an opportunity for us to take action on the basis of evidence,” said WVU Vice President for Research Fred King. “To contribute to WVU’s missions of research and service, it's imperative that researchers have a positive climate for their work.”

The National Center for Professional & Research Ethics will send a final reminder Friday (April 30) to faculty and graduate students to participate in a survey assessing the climate of research integrity on campus. The survey will close May 4.

If you have questions about WVU’s implementation of the survey, contact Trisha Phillips, interim director of research integrity, at trisha.phillips@mail.wvu.edu.
