Dr. Joseph M. Gratto served as President of WVU Potomac State College from 1987-1994. He also taught psychology as an adjunct instructor for several years after retiring. Dr. Gratto earned his PhD from Emory University in Atlanta.
"Joseph Gratto dedicated seven years of his life working to move the College forward as president and then in his retirement he continued to care and be involved as an instructor. Anyone who was here during his time as president might recall his daily walks around campus smoking his pipe, taking time to think and talking with students. When he retired, he was affectionately granted the title of President Emeritus by his fellow workers. I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Gratto on a number of occasions and always found him to be an interesting, intelligent, genuine, and kind man. Our condolences to his family," said PSC President Jennifer Orlikoff.
