WVU to build outdoor fitness court

Fitness Courts Construction Notice

Students will soon have safe, free access to WVU’s new outdoor Fitness Court located at the Evansdale Residential Complex. The court is a functional fitness circuit-training system designed around a series of bodyweight exercises to provide a simple, yet powerful, full-body workout to promote health and wellbeing. The fitness area will also include three sand volleyball courts and two basketball courts.

“We are really excited to be able to roll out the Fitness Court, especially at this time,” said Andy Darling, director of campus recreation. “The project has been in the works for a few years with the emphasis on outdoor activities. It will be great to offer our students this additional option with a lot of flexibility to meet their various interests, including pre-planned programs via the mobile app, participation in custom routines and taking part in instructor-led classes.”

This project has been partially funded by donor money through the WVU Office of Health Promotion and Wellness.

Note: The current sand volleyball court will be offline during construction. Construction of the new basketball and sand volleyball courts will begin early summer.
