Developed by faculty and students in the Department of Psychology and the School of Social Work, the Appalachian Activities for Dementia Manual is designed to offer meaningful and enjoyable activities for persons with dementia.

These activities involve “reminiscing” or remembering past experiences and in hopes of developing the most meaningful experiences, the activities included in this manual are based on crafts, games, folklore, music and other aspects of Appalachian culture. The manual can be used for individuals and groups and can be facilitated by persons with dementia, family caregivers and paid caregivers.

View and download the manual.
