Covid-19 has shown us the need to adapt and be prepared for the world of remote work. When the pandemic ends, remote work will continue to be a trend. Without quarantine, remote work can be a lot more than just working from home.
“Digital Nomads: In Search of Freedom, Community, and Meaningful Work in the New Economy,” a new book of original research by WVU sociologist Rachael A. Woldoff and Robert C. Litchfield, reveals the true scope of remote working possibilities by taking readers inside a digital nomad community in Bali, Indonesia.
The book, published by Oxford University Press, examines the growing demographic of individuals disaffected by the daily grind of office work who have left the U.S. and Europe to work remotely from low-cost global hubs around the world, and illuminates many ways for remote workers of all stripes to improve their work lives, well-being and to "find their tribe." This research offers many empowering lessons for new graduates and for those seeking more meaning from work and more balance in their lives.
