Adobe is retiring its Flash Player software on Dec. 31. This product long supported interactive web content, but there are more modern, efficient and secure technologies available today.
Nearly all major browsers have Flash capability turned off by default, and Flash will be completely removed from all browsers by Dec. 31. You have likely seen warning messages with language that varies slightly depending on the browser you use. There is nothing Information Technology Services or your college or department IT directors can do to prevent Flash from being retired.
Because Adobe will no longer provide security updates after Dec. 31, any continued use of Flash would create security risks to University systems and data, as well as to your personal data.
Direct questions or concerns to your college or department’s IT support team. Units supported by ITS can call 304-293-4444.
