Faculty, staff and student workers have a new way to manage leave and time, update personal information and perform other routine HR-related tasks. You get to the new Applaud system the same way you currently get to MyTime, through links in the Employee view of portal.wvu.edu. You will need to use WVU’s Virtual Private Network to access MAP-related services, as you do now.
This video highlights a few of the benefits of Applaud, and this FAQ addresses some common questions. This new system is largely intuitive and requires little training. To get familiar with it, however, we recommend you take a few minutes to perform these simple tasks.
Connect to WVU’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) and log into portal.wvu.edu.
On the MyHR tab in the Restricted Apps section, select the Personal Information link to be directed to Applaud.
Click the Personal drop-down menu and select Personal Information. Review and update your home phone number, home address, emergency contacts, marital status or any other information that is outdated or missing. Contact information may be particularly helpful in a University emergency. Be sure to mark your personal cell phone as “Home” if you don’t want other WVU employees to see it in the WVU Directory.
Select the Personal drop-down menu, then Qualifications. Edit your Education and Qualifications to include any degrees and/or certifications.
Click Profile and add metadata tags that reflect your professional skills, areas of expertise or special projects. This is the same kind of information you might include on a LinkedIn profile. Tags are searchable and can help employees identify colleagues by skill sets.
Upload a business-appropriate photo to your Profile, if desired. Just click on the circle next to your name and select Choose Photo to add your image. Keep in mind anyone at WVU can see this photo, as they can with Office 365.
Click the Pay drop-down menu and select Salary and Tax. Open your most recent pay statement and confirm its accuracy.
Find detailed instructions for many common tasks in the Shared Services Knowledge Base.
Information Technology Services, Talent and Culture, Shared Services, and the Finance and Payroll teams have collaborated on Applaud to provide a secure, attractive, easy-to-use alternative to the MyTime tool suite. All features that previously were in the Employee view of the Portal are in the new system.
Although it looks different, Applaud works the same way. Your Profile data (e.g., name, department, email address, position title, etc.) is the same information currently visible to other WVU employees through the online Directory.
Personal information, which is separate from your Profile, is NOT visible to others on campus. However, phone numbers can appear in the WVU Directory, so mark your personal cell number as “Home” if you don’t want other employees to see it.
Please direct questions to Shared Services 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at 304-293-6006, by email at sharedservices@mail.wvu.edu or by logging into the Salesforce Community.
