Halloween with the Horses set

Halloween with the Horses

Despite the ongoing global pandemic, faculty and students in the WVU equine studies program are determined to host the beloved Halloween with the Horses event.

Halloween with the Horses is scheduled for 2–4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the J.W. Ruby Research Farm in Reedsville. This will be a free, drive-thru and touch-free event while still providing a safe, educational experience.

During a drive-thru scavenger hunt, attendees can solve clues related to horses, their costumes and WVU. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume and submit a photo to participate in the costume contest. Prizes for the costume contest and scavenger hunt will be mailed as a family prize pack following the event.

Children are allowed to get out of the car at four scheduled stops to take photos with the horses, provided they wear a mask and maintain six feet of distance from horse handlers.

There is no admission charge for Halloween with the Horses; however, cash donations will be accepted during the event with proceeds going to WVU Collegiate Horsemen’s Association and the Reedsville Volunteer Fire Department.
