Matthew Vester (History, Eberly College of Arts & Sciences) recently published "Pandemic Politics During the Renaissance" in History Workshop Online.  The essay examines the politics of public health and plague-related restrictions in the 16th-century Alps, noting key similarities between today's challenges and those faced by past populations.
