Local to Global Film Series viewing Kedi this week

Kedi

Join the Local to Global Film Series online for a group viewing of “Kedi” Wednesday (May 6) at 4 p.m. via Kanopy, the WVU Libraries’ streaming film database.

“[In] ‘Kedi,’ Ceyda Torun's documentary about the teeming street cat population in Istanbul...The focus is on the cats, but Kedi is really a portrait of community...a sense of life in Istanbul, its diversity and beauty, its storefronts and waterfronts, its people...Caring for one another and caring for animals may seem like a small thing, but Torun's affectionate portrait of these cats—and the people who love them—makes it seem like the most important thing in the world,” wrote film critic Sheila O'Malley.

How it works:

  • Register for free with a valid WVU email address

  • Receive the Zoom link and instructions via email the day of the film.

  • Join the Zoom meeting at the designated start time for a short introduction and we'll get going, with discussion to follow.

The Local to Global Film Series is brought to you by WVU Libraries and the WVU Humanities Center. Online viewings will take place twice a month on Wednesdays. One film each month will be family-friendly, with a 4 p.m. start time. The other will start at 7 p.m. with an introduction and discussion afterward. See you online.
