Contemporary Christian artist Katie Simms represented WVU, as well as the southern region of the United States, in Quadio’s nationwide March Music Madness Competition for college musicians.

Simms entered the competition with her original pop song “Chameleons” from her 2019 EP “Life Ring” released by Mon Hills Records, the record label associated with WVU.

About “Chameleons”, Simms said, “This song is about being who you are and being confident in the unique and wonderful you.”

The March Music Madness competition had multiple rounds. Simms qualified for the competition based on the amount of likes she received on “Chameleons” on Quadio’s website. Based on those likes, she moved up to the Sweet 16 round where there were four competitors from each region: South, Northeast, Midwest, and West.

Based on the number of plays her song received, Simms then made it to the Elite 8 round, where she was up against Appalachian State University’s Immanuel Santiago with his song “Gravity.”

Simms moved up in the competition to the Final 4 round due to the number of comments her song received. In this round, she represented the South against Vincent Lima in the Northeast, Silver Warehouse in the Midwest, and Wil Brookhart in the West.

As of April 20, Katie Simms is #1 on Quadio’s chart for the state of West Virginia, as well as #1 on the chart for West Virginia University with her song “Chameleons.”

“Chameleons” is available to stream on Quadio at app.quadio.com/tracks/10155. The song is also available on Spotify and Apple Music.

Simms is working on her first full-length contemporary Christian album with WVU’s Mon Hills Records. To stay up-to-date on her upcoming album, follow her on Instagram and Facebook (@katiesimmsmusic).
