WVU Mail Services adjusts on-campus mail delivery in response to COVID-19

West Virginia University Mail Services has further adjusted its on-campus delivery operations following last week’s announcement that WVU is extending alternative delivery of classes and maximizing the number of employees working from home in response to COVID-19.

Beginning today (March 23), most U.S. Postal Service, UPS, FedEx Ground, FedEx Express and Staples deliveries will be delivered to the central mailroom located in Braxton Tower.

Delivery to all other University buildings, locations and residence halls is suspended until further notice with the exception of the Health Sciences Post Office/Central Receiving, College Park, University Park and University Place, which will continue normal mail delivery service.

·         Package Notification – Whenever possible the central mailroom will attempt to notify package owners via email when their package arrives.

·         Mail and Package Pickup – To promote social distancing, colleges, schools and departments should designate an individual for their area who will be responsible for mail pickup at the central mailroom. The designee should complete this form to select their preferred pickup day(s) / time(s) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To access the central mailroom, the designee should enter Braxton Tower through the building’s front doors. An attendant will provide the designee access to the building and direct them to the mailroom. Designees should be sure to carry a photo ID to present to the building’s attendant and mailroom personnel.

·         Personal Mail – As a reminder, please do not have personal mail delivered to campus at this time.

·         Sensitive Materials – If you are expecting delivery of sensitive materials (e.g., chemicals, live animals, perishable items, etc.), please notify the central mailroom at 304-293-4050. Certain materials may not be accepted at the central mailroom, so be sure to make alternative delivery arrangements with the carrier for these items.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unusual circumstances. WVU Mail Services hopes to resume normal delivery services as soon as possible.

In the meantime, contact us at 304-293-4050 with any questions. You also may email Ivia Hensley, mail services manager, at Ivia.Hensley@mail.wvu.edu.
