We are pleased to announce that Charlie Shobe, a geomorphologist specializing in cutting edge modeling of landscape evolution, will join the WVU Department of Geology and Geography as a new assistant professor in January 2021. Shobe received a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado (Boulder) and is currently a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the German Research Center for Geosciences in Potsdam.
He develops novel models for surface process and combines them with field measurements, remote sensing and stratigraphy to understand landscape response to tectonics, climate and other environmental signals. His current research aims at reconstructing the terrestrial erosion history of the U.S. Atlantic margin.
