The VISTA Collaborative at WVU is leading the way in developing higher education as a hub for the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Our VISTA Collaborative members serve Hosts Sites across WVU campuses in various departments by building capacity and sustainability efforts for their hosts.

The VISTA Collaborative at WVU Center for Service and Learning is actively recruiting host site supervisors who are looking to bring talented, passionate people on board to expand the capacity of your organization. AmeriCorps VISTA members come equipped with the talent and drive to work on projects that could be a game-changer for your organization.

Following our land-grant mission, we are striving to develop targeted, unique collaborations that support innovative student learning, leverage resources within the university, and develop engagement programming to improve outcomes in the community and strengthen student success. These collaborations will create a larger, more sustainable impact on poverty in West Virginia.

VISTA Members:

  • Volunteers in Service to America

  • Be 18 year or older

  • One-Year Commitment

  • Work at a full-time status at 37.5 hours a week

  • VISTAs perform indirect service, which means they help build the capacity of their host sites to deliver direct services to people living in poverty.

Sponsor requirements:

  • Project sponsors must be able to direct the project, supervise the AmeriCorps VISTA members, and provide necessary administrative support to complete the goals and objectives of the project.  The goals and objectives must be clearly defined and directed towards alleviating problems of low-income communities and meet the regulations of the AmeriCorps VISTA program.

  • One consistent goal for every AmeriCorps VISTA project must be the sustainability of the project by the sponsoring agency and low-income community after AmeriCorps VISTA project sponsorship ends.

  • Cover cost-share in which you will only have to pay once we have a member selected and they are about to start.
