Each year, the Office of the Provost and the Academic Policy Committee conduct a complete review and update of all academic policies to ensure continued support of student success. Below are the changes to academic policies that will affect students across all WVU campuses beginning in Fall 2020.
Probation and Suspension Policy – Changes include frequency and length of suspensions as well as probation requirements.
Credit for Prior Learning Policy – Changes include expanding the types of learning experiences for which a student can earn credit.
Final Exam Policy – Changes were made to rules governing exams or quizzes during the last week of regular classes preceding finals week.
Additional Changes – Additional information will be required for inclusion on the AY 2020-2021 Catalog for accelerated bachelor’s to master’s programs and 3+3 degree programs.
This same information is being shared with students and their academic advisors across the WVU system, but we encourage all of our community members to be aware of the updates so that we can best serve our students as they plan for Summer and Fall terms. Please note that policy changes have the potential to impact time-to-degree, financial aid, and/or degree path.
Faculty questions can be directed to Lou Slimak, Louis.Slimak@mail.wvu.edu or 304-293-1357. Students should be encouraged to see their advisor with questions.
