Career Services prepares students to attend WVU Career & Internship Fair today

Internship Fair

WVU students and alumni are encouraged to attend the WVU Career and Internship Fair today (Feb. 20) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.

More than 80 nationwide employers from diverse industries will be recruiting for internships and full-time job opportunities. Participating employers include: Brightview, FBI, Mylan, N3, Peace Corps, Revature and more.

Career fairs are not just an information gathering event. Students can prepare by having questions ready, so employers know that students have done research prior to attending the fair. Students need to arrive ready to network—this includes dressing professionally, having a polished resume and a 30 to 60 second elevator pitch ready to deliver.

This week, students have been participating in on-the-spot resume reviews during Resume Reviews and Career Fair Prep sessions, as well as Walk-In Wednesday office hours to get help with resumes and career fair questions.

Career Services also held the JCPenney Suit-Up event earlier this month to give students an opportunity to update their professional wardrobe in preparation for the career fair. “It was great, I have attended this event multiple semesters and saved hundreds,” said senior accounting and MIS major, Cody Wolfe. “I’m starting my full-time job in August and have been able to build my business wardrobe.”

Students who want to attend the career fair but feel that they are unprepared should visit careerservices.wvu.edu. Students can find resume templates, examples of business professional clothing, as well as tips on how to work a career fair.

Professional attire is required. Students are encouraged to get a free headshot at the fair while they are already dressed professionally. A complete list of participating employers is available on Handshake.
