West Virginia University’s Personal Rapid Transit system will remain closed between the Beechurst and Engineering stations Tuesday (Feb. 18) as an assessment of the hillside and surrounding area continues following last week's rock slide incident.
The PRT will operate during normal hours (6:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.). Vehicles will circulate between the Walnut and Beechurst stations and will operate on demand mode — which allows passengers to travel directly to their destination without stopping at other stations — between the Engineering, Towers and HSC stations.
Buses will operate on a continuous loop from 6:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. to accommodate passengers wishing to travel between Beechurst and Engineering. Each loop will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Pick-up locations for buses will be at the Life Sciences Building and Evansdale Crossing.
As always, Mountain Line bus service also is available, and students, faculty and staff ride free with a WVU ID.
Those attending the men's basketball game versus Oklahoma State Tuesday evening should use available PRT routes and provided buses when traveling to the game.
Additionally, portions of the Coliseum parking lot will be closed Tuesday to allow for game parking. As a result, Coliseum parking will be extremely limited. Event parking along Monongahela Boulevard will also be restricted. Find more Evansdale parking options.
