The School of Medicine’s Division of Athletic Training is now accepting applications for a new professional Master of Science in athletic training degree program.
The School of Medicine is accepting applications for the incoming June 2020 class. Prospective students must apply through the national Athletic Training Centralized Application Service.
Previously housed in the College of Physical and Sports Sciences, the Athletic Training program began transitioning to the School of Medicine in fall of 2019 as a result of changes from the national accrediting organization.
According to Anh-Dung “Yum” Nguyen, a certified athletic trainer and chair for the Division of Athletic Training in the Department of Human Performance, the program brings with it more than 45 years of excellence in training students to become leaders in the field of sports medicine.
“Being housed within the WVU School of Medicine provides our students opportunities to engage in applied clinical research, collaborate with nationally recognized faculty and clinicians in state-of-the-art classrooms, clinical sites, and research facilities. There are also many inter-professional collaborations with other health professions,” Nguyen said.
Clinical educational opportunities exist with WVU athletic teams competing in the Big 12 Conference. The School of Medicine is also home to modern, state-of-the art research facilities through the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.
