Morgantown Community Orchestra announces new leadership

Morgantown Community Orchestra

The Morgantown Community Orchestra announces new leadership as it begins its Spring 2020 season. With the support and sponsorship of the WVU Community Music  Program, the Orchestra is now enrolling members — both current and new — under the baton of Alyssa Schwartz, guest conductor.

The orchestra is open to everyone from youth, to non-music and music major collegiate students, to adults and senior citizen professional and amateur musicians within the Morgantown area and surrounding environs. The orchestra welcomes intermediate and advanced level players who wish to develop their artistic talents while enjoying music-making in a friendly ensemble setting.

For potential new members, an informal free trial play-in is recommended because the repertoire is carefully chosen to accommodate the ensemble’s need for music with a wide range of styles and difficulty.

The Orchestra meets on Saturdays, beginning Feb.1. Light refreshments and a welcoming Meet & Greet will take place at this first rehearsal/play-in. Rehearsals run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Creative Arts Center. Term membership fee is discounted at $55.35 (+ $10 processing fee) if registering before Jan. 31. After Jan. 31, the membership fee increases to its regular cost of $60 (+ $10 processing fee). For more information call 304.293.6946.
