As part of our land-grant mission, West Virginia University is committed to ensuring a more sustainable future — across our state and around the world. And an easy way faculty and staff can get involved in promoting sustainability on our Morgantown campus is by participating in the Office of Sustainability’s biannual book recycling program.
The first book recycling collection for 2020 will take place the week of Feb. 10.
Employees and departments are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get rid of any unwanted paper items from their offices and storage rooms. The program primarily is intended for hardback books; however, you also may include paperback books, journals, magazines and pamphlets.
In July 2019, we collected and recycled more than 6,800 pounds — approximately 3.5 tons — of paper items through the book recycling program. We are looking to surpass this number as we kick off a new year, so please do your part by participating in the program.
