Whether she’s organizing a resume-writing workshop for people with disabilities or coordinating a job and resource fair for veterans, Charlotte Swiger is on a mission.
Swiger serves as the Senior Diversity Outreach Specialist for the Division of Talent and Culture and she is dedicated to continuing to diversify our campus community, while helping people find meaningful employment at the University at the same time.
Swiger recently was recognized for her service to the veteran community by Operation Welcome Home — a non-profit dedicated to helping veterans and their families overcome barriers to employment – at the organization's annual Holiday Social and Recognition Celebration in Morgantown.
“Charlotte constantly offer services, classes, feedback, networking and outreach avenues, which we would not have otherwise,” said Operation Welcome Home CEO Brett Simpson. “She epitomizes the Mountaineer Spirit, and we are a better organization by being able to count her as a devoted member of our team.”
Swiger’s work is an important part of WVU’s efforts to attract the very best employees to support the University’s mission.
“West Virginia University is highly committed to promoting employment opportunities to military veterans, and I’m grateful to be an extension of that effort,” Swiger said.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to self-identify as a veteran if they have served in the military. The process is easy and helps WVU measure the effectiveness of our outreach programs.
Visit the WVU Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action for more information and instructions for completing the self-identification process.
