Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a seminar covering transgenic fungi for mosquito control. Raymond St. Leger, professor of entomology at the University of Maryland, will present at 4 p.m. Nov. 14, in 4004 Agricultural Sciences.
St. Leger will discuss genetic modification of the fungus Metarhizium pingshaense to improve its control of malaria-vectoring mosquitos and how it provides an innovative approach to combating a disease that afflicts over 200 million people per year.
The seminar is part of the Dr. William H. Conkle Seminar Series in the Division of Plant and Soil Sciences.
