Collegiate Recovery is hosting a dance therapy workshop designed to take participants on a journey of self-discovery Oct. 24 from 4-6 p.m. at Serenity Place, 628 Price Street, Morgantown.
The workshop will feature co-facilitators Tadashi Kato, a certified Evans Method of Modern Dance instructor and clinical psychologist and Cecily Flight, an ecstatic dance facilitator.
Participants will learn the basic vocabularies of shapes and human movement effort qualities created by Rudolf Laban, a 20th century choreographer and a founder of European Modern Dance. The workshop will help participants explore their creativity through movement and learn how the Laban vocabulary serves as a means of personal expression and communication. The group will also participate in a guided imagery exercise, an abstract painting exercise and free-form improvisational dance.
Attendees should wear moveable clothes and bring water and an open mind.
