The Center for Resilient Communities in the Eberly College invites you to attend a public lecture titled Re-Drawing Economies: Making Other Worlds for Uncertain Futures by Stephen Healy, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University, Australia. Healy will speak Oct. 8 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Brooks Hall, 325.

In his talk Healy dismantles the idea that the economy is separate from us and best comprehended by experts. Rather, he argues that the economy is the outcome of the decisions and efforts we make every day. Focusing on action research in Australia, New Zealand, Colombia and the United States, Healy reveals how communities are remaking economies from the ground up within and through periods of economic and environmental crisis.
Healy is also a founding member of the Communities Economies Research Network an international network of researchers, activists, artists and others who are enacting new visions of economy and building more ethical economic and ecological relationships.
