Support your innovative Mountaineers in a competition sponsored by WVMEP

Manufacturing Day Pitch Student

If you know a student who has an idea for a product, the Manufacturing Day Pitch Competition Oct. 8 from 5-7 p.m. is for them. Hosted by the West Virginia Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the WVU Mining and Industrial Extension in Room 413 at Evansdale Crossing, students can pitch their ideas for the chance to win money. 

The competition is open to all students in all majors and pitches must be for a physical product that can be manufactured. Initial drawings, design sketches or prototype preferred. Participants should be prepared to present a 5-minute pitch followed by a 5-minute Q&A session. The six applicants who are selected to participate will be announced on Sept. 25. Participants must be able to attend the event in October.

First place will take home $750, second place $500 and third place $250. In addition, winners will receive 10 hours of consultation with WVMEP. Applications will remain open until Sept. 22. Encourage students to apply and be sure to stop by the event to vote for your favorite innovation.

This is one of several events hosted by the WVU LaunchLab.The LaunchLab offers a place where students and faculty can bring their ideas to receive the support they need to make those ideas a reality. Our facility is open for class visits, where staff members are available to introduce the LaunchLab give a brief introduction to the LaunchLab and connect students and faculty to the resources they need in creating their idea.
