Kate Kelsey Staples, an associate professor of history, has been named acting assistant dean of the Honors College.
A scholar in medieval history, she has been teaching and advising Honors students for 14 years. She has also served as associate chair of the history department.
In her new role, she will be working closely with schools and colleges to develop courses for first- and second-year students in the Honors Foundations program.
“As a humanist and educator, I appreciate the values of intellectual curiosity and risk, as well as collaboration, built into the programming of the Honors College,” Staples said. “I am excited to step into this role in the Honors College and aid in the enhancement of exceptional experiences for WVU students."
