Department of Sociology and Anthropology to host lecture about disabilities and law enforcement

Steven Slack, National Down Syndrome Society ambassador, will focus on the National Down Syndrome Society's program of training law enforcement on how to engage people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He will speak on key points of receptive and expressive language, crisis intervention and establishing trust. The talk will also cover models of behavior that are successful in school and clinical settings. The talk will take place Tuesday (March 26) at 4 p.m. in the Mountainlair's Laurel Room.
