Announcing the Peer Support of Teaching Program

The Teaching and Learning Commons announces the Peer Support of Teaching Program, designed to help instructors become more reflective teachers and enhance their teaching and learning based on individual goals.

Peer Support pairs instructor colleagues to work together, share ideas, learn from one another, build skills, and potentially address challenges related to teaching and learning. Peer Support can occur in a variety of ways, and Peer Support associates work together to determine the best approach based on their needs. It is not an evaluation or remediation program.

“Having a program like this helps new instructors solve problems, learn teaching tricks, and build confidence,” said Chris Rota, assistant professor of Wildlife & Fisheries Resources at WVU, who has been involved with the new Peer Support Program. “For example, I felt much more comfortable sharing problems with somebody outside of my program. I also attribute some of my increase in SEI scores to the advice that I received in the Peer Support of Teaching Program.”
