Next Generation Forensic Science and Ideal Innovations Incorporated join forces

A 3D modal of a face.
Biometrics, the measurement and analysis of people’s biological characteristics, is a field that has made tremendous strides forward as technology has advanced. On March 16, students participating in the Advanced Topics in Forensic Science II classes, offered by the Next Generation Forensic Science Initiative, will have a rare and exciting opportunity. Lora Sims, a biometrics instructor from Ideal Innovations Incorporated, a worldwide forensic services provider and industry leader in biometrics, will come to WVU. Through a combination of lecture and hands-on exercises, Sims will teach students how to conduct facial comparisons and how to make facial identifications. In addition, students will use these same skills to learn how to compare and identify irises. Students will get first-hand experience with the marriage between cutting edge technology and traditional biology.
