Preventing slips, trips and falls this winter season

A student walking through an empty, snow covered campus.

Winter is officially upon us with freezing temperatures and snow that may cause walking surfaces to become slippery on campus. Environmental Health and Safety encourages all students, faculty, staff and visitors to wear the appropriate footwear and be watchful of areas that could create a slip, trip or fall hazard. For the safety of everyone, we encourage you to read, and share these winter walking tip sheets for injury prevention, awareness and guidance.

In addition, we encourage all persons who may suffer an injury on campus to immediately report this information within 24 hrs. of the event to your supervisor.  An employee injury incident report form, located at ehs.wvu.edu, will need to be sent to Medical Management and EH&S. Should you have any questions or concerns, visit ehs.wvu.edu or call (304) 293-7431.
