More than 130 student life staff members convened at the Mountainlair Dec. 7 for a professional development conference to help build a stronger culture within the division and to celebrate their accomplishments.
With recent shifts and challenges in Student Life, the conference is a part of an ongoing commitment to develop staff to their full potential. The conference is based, in part, on information provided through the 2018 WVU Culture Survey conducted by the Division of Talent and Culture and was focused on opportunities to help build trust, openness, appreciation and cohesiveness among student life employees.
“I am pleased with the hard work and team building that took place during the conference,” said Dean of Students. Corey Farris. “I believe a better understanding of each other’s roles and responsibilities and the challenges in the Division will bring us one step closer to building a better, stronger student life culture.”
Participants attended a plenary session, concurrent break-out sessions, social networking activities and the annual winter celebration luncheon.
“I look forward to continuing this process,” Farris said. “A positive culture motivates staff, increases loyalty, retains talent, and ultimately results in better programs, services and student engagement.”
