Nominations open for 2019 Ethel and Gerry Heebink Award for Distinguished State Service

WVU Campus

The Office of the Provost has announced that the nomination period for the 2019 Ethel and Gerry Heebink Award for Distinguished State Service is now open.

The Heebink Award annually recognizes a faculty or staff member who has provided distinguished service to the state over a period of eight years or more with the Distinguished Service Award, which carries a $3000 honorarium for professional support. In alternate years—including in 2018-2019—a recipient is also recognized with the Beginning Service award for service over a shorter amount of time. This award carries an honorarium of $2,000 for professional support.

Successful candidates will demonstrate sustained educational and public service activity extending beyond a traditional classroom setting to benefit people across West Virginia and proving an effective use of WVU resources. The selection committee requires that each nomination be endorsed by three to six individuals. The full memorandum calling for nominations, as well as the full criteria and application components can be found on the faculty website’s awards page here.

Nominations for both awards will be accepted until the close of business on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. For questions, please contact Donna Pancoast at dmpancoast@mail.wvu.edu or 304.293.2021 or Associate Provost C.B. Wilson at cbwilson@mail.wvu.edu.
